Cornerstone’s CEO, Tim Byles CBE, led the opening speech at the Westminster Education Forum on Tuesday 7th February 2017. The Westminster Education Forum held a Keynote seminar on the topic of The ‘Future of School Buildings and Capital Funding’ which was well attended by council officers, architects, contractors, the New Schools Network and the DfE.
Tim Byles spoke about the context of School Buildings in England, sharing the floor with Laura McInerney, the Editor of Schools Week. His speech highlighted the need for joined up investment across public services to deliver education, using public assets to free up capital. Examples included Broxbourne School where Council and School assets were leveraged, using surplus unused land for enabling development which provided the capital funding for the new school build.
